Personal Fitness Trainer |
I have always had a deep fascination and understanding of the body. It started at the University of Alberta where I earned my Bachelor Degree of Science in Nutrition and Food Science. Through that process, I made my way toward exercise physiology and fitness. That path took me to the Personal Fitness Trainer Program at NAIT and onwards to a challenging and highly rewarding career as a trainer. Aqua fitness, group fitness & Spinning have made stops in my career, but none have given me the proper vehicle to pass on my passion.
Posture has been the cornerstone of my practice, both professionally and personally. Since certifying with STOTT Pilates, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to create an environment where I can facilitate movement training. I have developed prenatal, postnatal and injury rehabilitation programs as well as sports and activity enhancement sessions. For me, Pilates is not just a form of exercise, but a new way of being -physically and mentally. Both body and mind need to find the balance between strong (and often) opposing forces. The tension free stillness and strength is within you; you just need to know how to find it.
My professional practice has always been individually based, with the focus on creating a healthy and improved life. Our bodies are designed to take in and release all forms of energy, nutrients and elements. All of these components have purpose and function. The real trick to staying healthy and happy is to keep all of your systems flowing, all of the components of well-being existing together in balance.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
